Did I break my neck or misalign the vertebrae?

There is a hard lump in the right side of my neck, but no lump in the left. When I try to feel for the vertebrae there is a space next to the lump. I was playing with a giant partially deflated ball and tried hitting it with my head like soccer players do. When it hit my neck bent sharply to the side, popped horribly, and pinched a nerve.
